"Looking back now, I am sure
that Smart Reader
Kids® (Sg. Chua, Kajang). was a blessing in disguise that I've never
accounted for. My daughter, Xiao Ying was 6 years old then and had attended
kindergarten for almost 2˝ years. She has a problem in pronouncing although specialists
find her to be normal and fine. Due to this, she has became very shy, dependent,
lack of confidence and inferior in personality. To make matter worse, she tends
to either slur or mumbling out in her speech. Maybe all these were because we
entrust her into her grandparents' care in our hometown and not by our side due
to certain circumstances. I was devastated but yet determined to find a way to
help her.
My vain search for a kindergarten
that could cater to my child's needs nearly become fruitless. In despair, I
began to think that I have to send her to a kindergarten and then tutorial
classes as well.
As I recalled the moment I
approached the principal, Pn. Zeha - I was actually thinking of sending my child
for tutorial classes. I wasn't aware that they have a kindergarten as well. You
can imagine how surprised am I to see all those kids and I was invited instantly
to join a class - first hand experience about how it was conducted and allowed
to rummage and browse through students' text books, workbooks, handicraft works
etc. It was the attitudes of the principal and teachers that really impressed
me. They were courteous, friendly and full of enthusiasm. We actually sat
together to discuss and explain to each other about the followings:-
a) my child and her needs
b) Smart Reader
Kids® (Sg. Chua, Kajang) and its programs
c) every possibilities and
solutions that might works out e.g. each class only consists of maximum 12
students which means ample of guidance and attention from the teacher, my
child will be given extra tutorial lesson whenever possible especially those
that emphasizes on pronouncing, and best of all, I can drop by as I like to
check on her progress with feedbacks from the teachers and also myself.
I felt that the cleanliness and
condition of the environment and surrounding speak a lot for itself. The
teachers are the best assets that shone out to me until now.
In the time frame of 7 months
schooling, my child has really made a vast and impressive progress that
surprised everyone especially family members. Her speech was getting better
although might stammer a bit due to uncertainty - mostly difficult words. We
don't have to strain our ears to listen carefully to what she said nor keep
guessing out her words. Her cousins and neighbors stopped making fun about her
speech. She mingles around with fellow students cheerfully and happily without
feeling awkward about her speech. Becomes addicted to singing and dancing all
the time - loudly. Colors in her drawings were bright like a rainbow, which used
to be dull and gloomy. My child had finally mastered the alphabetical order
sequence correctly. Furthermore, she does her homework independently without
assistance of any sort. True to her words, the principal and teachers always
inform me about her progress on and off. Sometimes they will teach me the
correct pronunciation should I myself stumble upon one while teaching my child
at home.
In my opinion, the teachers
actually focus on the total development of the child - social, morale, emotion,
language, academic etc. The students and teachers share music, movements,
games, fun loving and bonding despite they come from a variety of cultures and
ethnic backgrounds. The teachers' act of respect and tolerance about each
child's individuality made it possible for the child to develop at his/her own
pace. Therefore, I have never ever heard any of the students especially my
child and my niece (attending the same school) complaint about favoritism or
teacher's pet student. In fact, both of the girls go to school with a sense of
fun and enthusiasm that nothing could ever deter them - nope not sickness.
There is no word to describe the
depth of my gratitude and respects to the teachers especially the principal, Pn.
Zeha. They are always open-minded about my complaints or feedbacks whenever I
approach them. Their genuine concerns about my child help to bring out the best
or uniqueness of her characters. They taught me to accept her weakness and try
to help her to overcome it slowly.
For Cinderella, she has her fairy
godmother to help her out. Yet to my child, her Smart Reader
Kids® (Sg. Chua, Kajang) teachers are her guardian angels living in this
real world."
